In 2014 The Vines Resort & Spa in the Uco Valley near Mendoza was named one of the 33 best new hotels in the world by Condé Nast's Hot List and this is a well-deserved accolade that we can attest to having visited the resort in March 2017. The setting is simply gorgeous; surrounded by green vines ripe with fruit, a feeling of immense spaciousness and a backdrop of the Andes combine to ease the weary traveller into a sense of sublime calm.
Once you've arrived you might not want to leave. The villas are divine. They are delightfully comfortable and luxuriously appointed with deep leather couches, all the mod cons including a Nespresso machine and wine cooler, plus warm furnishings that pay subtle tribute to the gaucho (cowboy) heritage of the region. You could easily spend hours on the villa's veranda just chilling out with a glass of fine local wine in hand, staring off into space - it is simply so peaceful with the trickle of a small creek running through the villa garden and the views of snow-capped mountains.
But... there is a lot to see and do in this incredible part of the world so we have planned a fantastic 4 day itinerary for you that includes:
Create your own custom Uco Valley blend of wine. Learn the art of winemaking alongside The Vines’ expert team, from harvesting and blending to tasting and bottling. Taste and compare different varietals including Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot, learning about how each affects the final wine, creating the perfect balance of power and elegance for your palate and then bottle your own personal wine.
Gallop (or walk!) through the mountains of nearby Manzano Historico, guided by authentic Argentine gauchos. Sunset Horseback is certainly one of the most acclaimed and praised by guests activities. Enjoy a horseback ride that ends with a breathtaking sunset at Mendoza's Manzano Histórico mountains. Complete with mate and a light picnic at the top of the mountain, this is an unforgettable Argentine adventure.
Internationally acclaimed chef Francis Mallmann creates inspired regional dishes, showcasing Argentina's famous beef. From the gardens and the surrounding land, you'll enjoy a natural bounty of local, seasonal ingredients paired with exceptional Argentine wines. From here, the culinary magic begins! (Tip: Pace yourself - there's a lot of food!)

Optional activities include: Fly fishing and heli-skiing (season dependent).
In 2005, Pablo Gimenez Riili and Michael Evans recognized the world-class potential of Mendoza’s Uco Valley and invested in 650 acres of land. Their purpose: to make the dream of owning a vineyard and producing your very own premium quality wine a reality. The Vines of Mendoza has since sold Private Vineyards to more than 120 owners from around the globe, expanded the property to 1,500 acres and established the highest quality winemaking enterprise in the region. Each step of the way has been a labor of love and we enjoy nothing more than to share the fruits of our labor with you. We welcome visitors to our Mendoza City and Uco Valley Tasting Rooms where we showcase the best of Argentine boutique wines, including our own Recuerdo brand.
