An Indian Adventure

When you set out to see the sights of India, a host of colourful attractions spring to mind. The best time to visit India is October or November when there’s less rain and the humidity isn’t too stifling. Fly into Delhi and visit the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate, Parliament House and Lotus temple, before taking a train, preferably early the next morning to Agra. It will take you roughly two hours to get there, so enjoy the scenery along the way.

Agra and the Taj Mahal
To many, it would be ludicrous to visit India and miss the marble mausoleum in Agra, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife. The Taj Mahal is India’s biggest tourist attraction but for the quietest time and best lighting for photos, arrive early. For some truly luxurious treatment, stay at the Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra. All the rooms at this dazzling hotel have a view over the Taj Mahal and as the sun sets on another wonderful day, you can watch music and dancing on the terrace above the pool.

Adrenaline in Jaipur
Jaipur, also known as the Pink City is home to the spectacular Palace of Winds, or the Hawa Mahal. Also, don’t miss a glimpse of true Indian heritage in a visit to the Amber Fort, a majestic fort of white marble and red sandstone on a hill, the reflection of which glistens in the waters of the surrounding Maota Lake. The best and albeit bumpiest way to reach the top is on an elephant!

The camels of Jodphur
Have you ever noticed the varying expressions of a camel? The array of facial twitching will make for hundreds of hilarious photographs, so when you’re in Jodphur, make sure to pencil in some time at the camel markets. Or ask us about your Rajasthan Camel Safari options. When in India…

Udaipur and the Lake Palace hotel
The best way to experience Udaipur is with a stay at the exceptional Taj Lake Palace Udaipur, situated in the middle of a lake. When you arrive you’ll be ferried over on a motorboat, giving you time to soak up those spectacular surroundings. The Lake Palace is a small hotel, furnished with true Indian elegance. Tear yourself away and explore some of the fortresses in the vicinity, noticeably the Chittaurgargh Fort, the Meherangarh Fort overlooking the city, or Dilwara to experience total solace in the mayhem.
