DAY 1 Delhi
We welcome you to North India with a traditional floral garland and red tikka before arriving at your grand colonial Special Stay for the next two nights, The Imperial Hotel.
DAY 2 Delhi
Explore Old Delhi and India’s largest mosque, Jama Masjid. Dazzle your senses on a rickshaw ride through Asia’s largest wholesale spice bazaar before undertaking a heritage walk through Delhi’s oldest streets and finishing with a traditional lunch in a haveli with a local family. Later visit the inspiration for the Taj Mahal, Humayan’s Tomb.
DAY 3 Delhi > Agra
Drive past the India Gate and Presidential Avenue before continuing to Agra stopping en-route at the tomb of I’timadud-Daulah, known as the Baby Taj. In Agra, your luxurious Special Stay hotel, the Oberoi Amarvilas, is only 600 metres from the magnificent Taj Mahal.
DAY 4 Agra Taj Mahal & Agra Fort
Marvel at the Taj Mahal at sunrise with its shimmering marble domes and towers. Later discover the World Heritage-listed Agra Fort.
DAY 5 Agra > Ranthambore National Park
Explore the World Heritage-listed site of Fatehpur Sikri en-route to Bharatpur. Board a train to travel to Ranthambore National Park and settle into your luxury tent for a two night Special Stay at the Oberoi Vanyavilas.
DAY 6 Ranthambore National Park
Game drives with Naturalist Accompanied by an expert wildlife naturalist, search for the elusive Bengal tiger during private morning and afternoon game drives.
DAY 7 Ranthambore National Park > Jaipur Castle Kanota
Drive to Jaipur also known as the ‘Pink City’, stopping for lunch at the Castle Kanota, the setting for the Viceroy Club in the film ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, whilst dinner is in a restored haveli. Stay at the regal Taj Rambagh Palace for two nights.
DAY 8 Jaipur
Enjoy morning tea at Royal Residence. Explore the City Palace and the World Heritage-listed Jantar Mantar, an 18th century observatory. View the magnificent Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). Later ride a cycle rickshaw through the old city to visit different artisan communities.
DAY 9 Jaipur > Samode
Book a hot air balloon flight over Jaipur (additional expense, purchased on tour). Begin the day exploring the striking hilltop Amber Fort. Witness a wonderful and exclusive camel polo match before enjoying a BBQ lunch. Drive through the smaller country roads to your hotel, the impressive Samode Palace, arriving in style in camel carts.
DAY 10 Samode > Nagaur Nagaur Fort
Pass small villages and towns driving to Nagaur and the magnificent hotel Ranvas, located within the original fort perched on the edge of the Great Thar Desert. Conduct a guided exploration walk around the fort before enjoying an exclusive dinner in an especially prepared setting within the fort itself, dressed in your personal turbans and saris.
DAY 11 Nagaur > Jaisalmer
Continue west into the desert of Rajasthan to Jaisalmer, known as the ‘Golden City’ and for its many intricate havelis. Undertake an orientation walk visiting the well-known Patwon-ki Haveli and Salim Sing-ki-Havelis. Your hotel for the next two nights is the distinctive Suryagarh Jaisalmer.
DAY 12 Jaisalmer
Sunset at Lakhana dunes. Visit the 800-year-old Jaisalmer Fort and the Gadsisar Sagar Tank.
DAY 13 Jaisalmer > Dechu
Begin our return east and drive to Dechu to spend a wonderful evening under the stars at the Samsara Luxury Tented Camp.
DAY 14 Dechu > Jodhpur
Undertake a jeep safari through nearby villages or venture to Khichan, which is the migratory home to the Demoiselle Cranes of Eurasia and Mongolia. Continue to the ‘Blue City’ of Jodhpur and marvel at the Mehrangarh Fort from your room at The Raas, a boutique hotel located inside the old walled city.
DAY 15 Jodhpur
Choose from a variety of heritage walking tours to discover the history, architecture, bazaars and culture of the ’Blue City’. Accompanied by the museum curator, enjoy a glass of champagne overlooking the city before continuing on an exclusive and private walking tour of Mehrangarh Fort. Dinner is at the Fort providing an outstanding vantage point over the city.
DAY 16 Jodhpur
After a leisurely morning, stop for lunch at the Bal Samand Lake Palace before checking into your Special Stay for the night, the majestic home of the Royal family, the Umaid Bhawan Palace.
DAY 17 Jodhpur > Narlai
See the rural tribal hamlets whilst driving to the small village of Narlai. Settle into your hotel, the Rawla Narlai, a former hunting lodge. Later take a walking tour of the village before enjoying a drink with a member of the local royal family. Take a bullock cart ride to tonight’s dinner venue and enjoy a delicious Indian dinner in a candlelit 1,100-year-old well. Uniquely romantic.
DAY 18 Narlai > Ranakpur > Udaipur
Rise early to watch sunrise over the lake on your jeep safari in hope to view a leopard on their morning prowl. Stop at Ranakpur to visit the intricate head Jain Temple before arriving in Udaipur, also known as the ‘City of Lakes’ and your three night Special Stay at the magnificent Taj Lake Palace. Tonight relax in the palace gardens whilst watching the evening cultural show.
DAY 19 Udaipur
Undertake a local cooking class or venture into the streets for a heritage walk. Alternatively take an Indian miniature painting class and a garden and lake tour. Dinner tonight affords picturesque views of the lake and your iconic hotel.
DAY 20 Udaipur
Explore the intricate maze of rooms, stairs and hallways of the impressive City Palace. Later relax on a cruise on Lake Pichola at sunset before indulging in your sumptuous private Mewar Terrace farewell dinner.
DAY 21 Udaipur > Delhi/Mumbai
Bid farewell to India as you fly to Delhi. Alternatively you can use your included flight to fly from Udaipur to Mumbai for a post-tour extension.
